May 4, 2012Holy Cross Hospital is committed to your health and the health of our community. Along with their great medical care, they also provide a variety of wellness programs designed to keep you healthy and improve your quality of life. Holy Cross Hospital’s Be Your Best U Wellness Program provides more access to health care screenings, educations and workshops by coming to you so that you can have more access to better health and more wellness. Specific programs can be created for employers, community organizations, clubs, and individuals.
“Holy Cross continues to provide care within the hospital walls, and now we’re supporting individuals and families where they work and play, through Be Your Best U,” says Peter Hofstetter, Chief Executive Officer at Holy Cross Hospital. “Our Wellness Program helps you where you are, and it helps all of us improve in many areas where we can be happier and healthier. We are focused on doing more outreach and education, we can do a lot of things within the community and we are open to any of it. It’s a great role for our community hospital, and we’re excited to be more involved.”
Be Your Best U encourages, educates, and guides you to develop better health and gain more wellness. Wellness has many parts: physical, social, emotional, medical, financial, spiritual, environmental and occupational. It’s not just about exercising or being free of illness. It is about having a positive quality of life and a positive sense of well-being.
Questions Be Your Best U encourages a person to consider: “What inspires you to be well? Who inspires you to be well, and what would you do with him or her if you had more wellness?” With the answers to these questions, Be Your Best U helps a person find tools and expertise to find their optimal well-being. Sometimes, a young parent needs to find balance between child raising and personal time, or a baby boomer needs assistance balancing the changing financial situation of their own health care needs and caring for aging parents. Be Your Best U uses the experts in Holy Cross Hospital’s system of providers to help people find answers and take responsibility for their own health.
As the hospital brings Be Your Best U to the community they will provide more opportunities for individuals to engage with hospital staff and health professionals. One of the ways that women can engage in conversations with outstanding (women) health care providers is through Holy Cross Hospital’s Women’s Health Series. These are a series of luncheons hosted within community centers, churches and businesses. They are focused on specific health issues related to women.
The Women’s Health Series includes a healthy lunch and open dialogue with local physicians in a casual setting. Topics include:
• Get Real About Menopause, presented by Dr. Shanti Mohling
• Healthy weight, Healthy Taos, presented by Dr. Deborah van Willigen
• In Sickness and Health, presented by Dr. Cipry Jaramillo
Holy Cross Hospital’s Be Your Best U has a menu of customized health screenings, workshops, and assessments as a way to deliver health care to your neighborhood. A sample of what is available:
• A Healthy Start/Early Childhood Development
• Woman’s Health
• Graceful Living
