Professionally-led Ongoing Cancer Support Groups

An ongoing weekly cancer support group begins Thursday, March 29th from 5:30 pm -6:30 pm at Team Builders office across the street from Guadalajara Grill. The support group is for everyone recently diagnosed with cancer, currently receiving treatment, or for those who have completed their treatment within the past year.

The support group is being led by Jason Pfiefer, certified coach. The’s group’s focus is to help people connect with others who are experiencing similar situations and feelings, as well as provide a forum to discuss diagnosis, treatment and life after cancer.

Jason is a five-year survivor of cancer. His treatment consisted of surgery and radiation therapy. Since his last treatment Jason has completed training by the Coaches Training Institute to become a Certified Co-Active Coach (CPCC), he has been trained as a support group facilitator, and he is a member of the International Coaches Federation. He has been coaching for four years.

“I am a cancer survivor and I have a passion to help others going through cancer. I’ve always believed in living life to its fullest. Optimal well-being includes mental health. A support group can help reduce stress, calm fear and ease anxiety,” says Jason. “These support groups are possible because of the Taos Cancer Support Services and money raised at For the Health of it! 5K Walk and Fun Run.”

The support groups are one of several services available through the Taos Cancer Support Services. These services respond to the non-medical needs of residents living with cancer in Taos or Western Colfax County. It provides services that support emotional well being and resources that meet basic needs in order to ease stress and promote healing. They are to help people experiencing cancer and their families.
