Diabetes Management Services
Holy Cross Hospital's Diabetes Management Services provides quality education, resources and support to individuals who are challenged with the diagnosis or prevention of type 1, type 2, and/or gestational diabetes. Education on all aspects of diabetes including disease process, medications, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, prevention of acute and chronic complications, goal setting and problem solving is included. Intensive insulin management is provided, and insulin pump starts are facilitated.
Two nurse educators and a registered dietitian staff the Diabetes Management Services Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00 pm. Educators maintain the national CDE credential (Certified Diabetes Educator), and work closely with the individual’s primary care physician to achieve health goals. Please get a referral fromyour physician for services from Diabetes Management Services.

Free Diabetes Cooking Classes and Luncheon are held monthly for those who have diabetes or prediabetes at the TCDEC Food Center.

Holy Cross Hospital registered dietitian Diane Johnson, RD, LD, MNT provides classes and one-on-one education and support to individuals and their families for many health conditions that can be improved by diet such as heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, arthritis, gastrointestinal disease, metabolic syndrome, and healthy eating for children, etc. A physician referral is required.

Weight Loss Management Services
The Weight Loss Support Group is held in a modular building in the lower Holy Cross Hospital parking lot every Wednesday evenings at 4:00 pm. The support group is open to the community and there is no charge. Drop-ins are welcome! The support group is facilitated by Diane Johnson and also includes monthly sessions with experts in exercise and fitness. Diane Johnson is a registered dietitian and has a certification in Adult Weight Management.
Individual sessions with Diane Johnson, RD, LD. MNT are also offered through physician referral and provide a more structured approach to weight loss within a developed curriculum.
