WELCOME FROM THE CEO

For over 72 years, Holy Cross Hospital has remained committed to providing our community with the most progressive health care available. Our newly completed construction in 2005 is a testimony to this. In the near future, additional structures will be built on our existing campus. We will begin work on our new Pediatric building in the summer of 2009, as well as a new Wellness and Administrative building to better serve our community.Today, the people of Taos County and surrounding areas have a Hospital that matches the exceptional quality of Holy Cross' physicians and staff. With our expanded range of medical services, we have evolved from our modest beginning as a tiny, 10-bed community Hospital, to a bustling 47-bed Regional Hospital that has become a rural health care model for the nation. Expansion is now in the planning stages once again, such as our growth in key clinical services. Seven-day-a-week Hospitalist Services, expanded physicians in General Surgery, new Orthopaedic and Pediatric physicians and an entire Women's Health Care Service is driving our growth.
Situated on our main campus is our newly modernized 89,000 square-foot Hospital building. This beautifully designed and attractive facility boasts four modern Digital Surgical Suites; a private, family-oriented Birthing Center; Radiology and Imaging services utilizing the latest diagnostic technology and picture perfect Digital resources; a Full-Service Clinical Laboratory; Physical and Speech Therapy; a six-bed Intensive Care Unit with a four-bed Progressive Care Unit; and a high-tech, high-touch 24-hour Emergency Room staffed continuously with one of our four Board-Certified Emergency Room Physicians.
Currently, we boast more than 80 physicians on active or consulting status with Holy Cross Hospital. Together, they represent a broad range of specialties. We have about 50 physicians in town who are on our active staff, and we seem to be adding more doctors to staff every few months. Our reputation in the state for excellent care is one of our strongest assets and this attracts the best physicians to join us. In addition, our beautiful facility is only exceeded by the beauty of our home community.
Our emphasis on prevention means we will continue to offer educational outreach programs to promote wellness among the citizens of Taos and neighboring counties. Our Outpatient Diabetes and Wellness Center is one of our star programs, as well as our services for new mothers, smoking cessation, the Holy Cross Foundation's annual Toast of Taos campaign and Annual Health Fair held in the Civic Center are renowned.
Holy Cross Hospital fully understands the value of medical technology. In fact, our Hospital houses some of the most advanced equipment in northern New Mexico. Technology is vitally important to enhancing the level and quality of care we are able to provide. For example, sophisticated PACS and patient records technology in our new information technology system greatly streamlines care and serves our patients well. We are proud of our technology, but we are equally proud of the fact that we dispense our modern medicine with a healthy dose of good old-fashioned human compassion. Our staff is committed to a personalized, caring approach to each of our clients, individually. We are still a hometown Hospital that cares for patients who are often our friends and neighbors. We continually strive to improve our quality, embrace open transparency of our clinical results and provide the safest and most cost-efficient care in the state.
We hope you enjoy our website.
