ICU/PCU
The ICU/PCU at Holy Cross Hospital provides care to patients of all ages who are experiencing moderate to severe illness. Our nursing staff is well qualified to care for patients with both medical and surgical diagnoses. The units are equipped with state-of-the-art cardiac monitors in each room, three ventilators and computerized IV pumps that assist in accurate calculation of intravenous medications. With ongoing nurse education, our staff works to remain current with national standards of practice in order to provide the best and safest care to our clients. Our physicians include a Cardiologist, an Intensivist, Internists, Family Practice Physicians and Hospitalists.
Hospitalists are physicians that practice within the Hospital setting. They generally do not have private practices, so they concentrate their practice in taking care of patients who are hospitalized. You may expect to see a few different Hospitalists during your stay. The Hospitalists communicate with each other so that each Hospitalist will know about your illness and your plan of care. The Hospitalist also communicates with your primary physician about your Hospital stay, so that your primary physician will know why you were in the Hospital and what occurred during your stay. Our Hospitalists are available 24-hours-a-day. We also utilize the services of Case Managers, Diabetic and Dietary Educators, and Substance Abuse Counselors in order to ensure that patients have tools necessary for continued care when they no longer need hospitalization. |
